Alphanumeric Characters
Back
Definition
Alphanumeric characters are a combination of alphabetic letters (A to Z, both uppercase and lowercase) and numeric digits (0 to 9). These characters are commonly used in usernames, passwords, IDs, and input fields that require a mix of letters and numbers.
Why it matters
Using alphanumeric characters increases the complexity and strength of credentials and identifiers. They reduce the chances of duplication and enhance security, especially when combined with special characters in password creation.
Example use case
When creating an online account, a user is prompted to enter a password containing at least eight alphanumeric characters, such as “Tiger82” or “A9b7k3L2”.
